1.Find someone to trade with
First step is to find a postcard collector. To do so, you have to
visit a couple of ''about postcards'' websites, where almost always
list of other collectors is shown. It's often that you can find
there email addresses of such collectors.
2. E-mail message
Second step: you' re sending email to collector, questioning him (or
her) whether he (or she) would like to trade postcards with you. In
this type of email message you have to include any necessary
information about place you are from and what type of postcards you
are expecting and what postcards can you provide in exchange.
3. Buying postcards
Knowing all needed information, you have to buy some postcards for
exchange (if you haven't done this yet). Do it taking into
consideration preferences of the other collector. Buy only
best quality postcards, not the cheapest you find.
4. Preparing to send cards
Writing address on envelope be sure there are no postcards inside,
because you can damage them. Insert agreed number of postcards to
the correctly addressed envelope. (There is a good custom to put in
one extra postcard) Seal your envelope and go to the post office.
5. Sending postcards
Choose the right method of sending your letter. If you are sending
cards overseas make sure you've bought air mail stamp. If you do so,
it's time to go home and wait till letter from your collector arrive.
6.When the postcards arrive...
It's good to inform the sender that his (her) postcards have arrived.
They are waiting for you to do this. Do not cheat other collectors
that their letters haven't arrived, if it wasn't like that. How
would you feel if somebody did you this way?

Each collector have
his own preferences about trading postcards. What is interesting to
one collector, may be not interesting for the other, so before starting
your trade it's good to know what are the preferences of your trader.
I expect:
- viewcards showing tourist places, nature (volcanoes, mountains,
lakes) cities, towns or villages - it would be good if there is a
name of the city/town/village in front of the card. I also collect
map postcards.
- new, unused and in mint condition postcards
- rectangle shape of the postcards, and 10x15 cm size (or LITTLE
oversized)
- single/multiview cards - it doesn't matter (but it would be good
if there is no more than 3-4 views per card)
- postcards to be send in envelope, not each card send separately
I do not want:
- postcards with animals, flowers, art, people,Christmas, Easter,
Birthday etc.
- used, old and damaged postcards
- black and white viewcards
- cheap quality cards
In exchange I can
offer:
Postcards from various places in Poland - new and unused. If you are
interested in list of cities or scans, please let me know via e-mail
and I will send you the information. For ticket collectors I may
have a few interesting exhibits, so fell free to ask about it. |
